FLOEFD Basic represents the foundation of the Simcenter FLOEFD platform and includes all the essential capabilities required to perform fluid dynamics and thermal simulations directly within the CAD environment. Thanks to the Frontloading CFD approach, designers can evaluate product behavior from the early stages of development, quickly identifying potential issues and optimizing the design before building physical prototypes.

In addition to core CFD simulation capabilities, FLOEFD Basic includes modules dedicated to the analysis of advanced physical phenomena and HVAC applications. FLOEFD Base

The Base module represents the core of the Simcenter FLOEFD platform, providing all the essential capabilities required to perform fluid dynamics and thermal analyses directly within the CAD environment. It includes the integrated CFD modeler, SmartCells technology for automatic mesh generation, and the numerical solver that forms the foundation of the Frontloading CFD approach.

With FLOEFD Base, engineers can simulate internal and external flows, steady-state and transient analyses, mixing phenomena, pressure losses, heat transfer between solids and fluids, and fluid-structure interactions. Designers can quickly evaluate multiple design solutions while keeping the CFD model fully associative with the CAD geometry.

FLOEFD HVAC Module

The HVAC module extends Simcenter FLOEFD capabilities to applications related to climate control, ventilation, and indoor environmental comfort. It includes dedicated models for air quality simulation, temperature distribution analysis, and occupant comfort evaluation.

The module also provides parameters such as PMV and PPD, along with an extensive building materials database, enabling realistic simulation of buildings, vehicle cabins, and conditioned environments.

FLOEFD Advanced Module

The Advanced module includes a range of advanced physical models designed to address highly complex simulation scenarios. It enables the analysis of combustion phenomena, hypersonic flows, high-temperature air dissociation, ionization effects, and aerospace applications.

It also provides tools for the thermal simulation of satellites and spacecraft, taking into account radiation from the sun and celestial bodies. This module is ideal for applications requiring advanced physical modeling beyond the capabilities of traditional CFD.

What-If Analysis, DOE, RSM and Optimization

Simcenter FLOEFD enables the rapid evaluation of multiple design configurations through What-If Analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) studies, allowing engineers to systematically assess the impact of geometric, physical, and operating parameters on product performance.

The Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and optimization capabilities, included in the base package, allow users to create predictive models of simulation results and automatically identify the optimal design configuration based on defined objectives and constraints.
